Preparing Global Leaders

The importance HBS places on fostering a global perspective among its students, program participants, and faculty members is evident when one looks at the numbers: During the past academic year, 52 percent of HBS cases published were globally oriented, based on faculty research facilitated by the School’s 18 research outposts on five continents, and more than 1,300 MBA students traveled abroad to 20 countries for immersive courses in the field. Across all of HBS’s academic programs—MBA, Executive Education, Doctoral, and Harvard Business School Online—understanding how business is conducted in markets around the world is fundamental to the learning experience. This knowledge, which is shared with practitioners through Harvard Business Publishing and other channels, is a key component in the toolbox of skills and insights business leaders need to address challenges, identify opportunities, and make a difference in today’s globalized world.
Gifts to the HBS Fund enable faculty to study innovative business practices and trends
abroad, MBA students to gain hands-on exposure to the nuances of business in countries different from their own, and the School to offer need-based scholarships that encourage a diversity of thought in the classroom. The support that alumni and friends provide plays an essential role in HBS’s efforts to deepen the worldview of all members of its community.
