HBS believes that leadership talent is more evenly distributed than opportunity across society and the world, and takes the approach that preparing future leaders for today’s challenges depends on having a broad range of perspectives shared inside and outside of the classroom. For these reasons, in particular, the School is continuing to strengthen its efforts to make the MBA Program ever more accessible and affordable for a wider array of students. The stories in this section showcase the work the School is doing to ensure that students with different experiences, backgrounds, and viewpoints have the opportunity to attend HBS, pursue their passions, and realize their promise, even if they have limited means.

Alumni and friends who give to HBS, including those who give annually to the HBS Fund, are making an investment in the School’s mission to educate leaders who make a difference in the world. Their gifts make it possible for HBS to offer need-based scholarships to about 50 percent of all MBA students, including, since last August, full-tuition scholarships for the 10 percent of students with the highest need. The socioeconomic diversity of HBS’s student body benefits everyone in the School’s learning model and community. Thanks to the support of generations of alumni, HBS offers the largest need-based financial aid program of any graduate business school in the world.
