The Future of Cities
Topics: Society-Urban DevelopmentCommunication-ConferencesEducation-Business EducationEducation-Campus LifeEnvironment-Environmental SustainabilityHaving trouble finding parking? Consider this: In forty years, there will be 3 billion more citizens on Spaceship Earth, mostly in the developing world’s cities, as the planet’s population hits 9 billion in 2050.
To consider how cities should address this explosive growth, leading experts and practitioners from business, government, and academia convened at HBS in March for a conference hosted by the School’s Business and Environment Initiative. Participants at the event, titled “Investing in the Cities of the 21st Century: Urbanization, Infrastructure, and Resources,” discussed business and policy approaches to water, transit, power, the built environment, and other issues.
