Undergrads Tackle Business Research
Topics: Education-Business EducationEducation-Higher EducationFor the first time this summer, HBS is sponsoring a ten-week program for fifteen Harvard undergrads to assist faculty with research projects. The Program for Research in Markets and Organizations (PRIMO) will introduce “an incredible pool of undergraduates to business academia and, we hope, plant the seeds for the next generation of HBS faculty,” says HBS professor Mihir Desai, the program’s chair.
PRIMO is one of HBS’s new initiatives to expand the School’s collaborative efforts with the University, a key goal of Dean Nitin Nohria.
Beyond its research component, Desai explains that “the program will provide students with a residential living experience and lots of ‘special sauce’ — additional training, informal talks, and exposure to business faculty so that they have an opportunity to really understand what academic life is like.” Desai adds that he envisions expanding the program next year.
