The “Assets” department in our March issue featured some of Professor Joe Fuller’s flying pigs and a call to share what’s in your office.
Keep Pulling
“My time at HBS overlapped with Professor Fuller, who graduated from HBS the year before I did. While he was starting Monitor Group, I was living in Taichung, Taiwan, opening a purchasing office for a British sports shoe company. Mainland China was not yet open for business. I purchased this bronze casting of a Chinese peasant pulling a heavy load to remind me to keep pulling. The brass, six-inch rule is included for scale. I inherited that from my father.”
—John S. Dixon (MBA 1982)

Time Machine
“I have a picture in my home office of Professor [Emeritus] Michael Porter and me from an Executive Education course at HBS in 2019. And here we are together after Competitive Strategy in 1997. My hair has greyed while he looks the same! I am the same age in the second picture as he was when he taught our class.”
—Ryan O’Hara (MBA 1997)
Mental Floss
“I just had the unfortunate experience of a back surgery—but the silver lining is lots of reading time! I’ve been catching up on HBS magazine and wanted to say the redesign is fantastic. I’m 10 minutes in and have already sent three features to different friends suggesting they look into companies for donating, hiring, or partnership opportunities. Such great highlights and information. Thanks for the work!”

The Real Deal
“A warm hello to Section B from your humble scribe, for once bursting with genuine tidings and not the thin gruel of scrapings from LinkedIn and outright ChatGPT-esque ‘hallucinations.’ ”
—Andrew Matheson (MBA 1993/B)

Wheel Time
“Since moving to Boston four years ago, I turned to ceramics as a way to quiet my anxious mind and focus on the process rather than the end result. Getting my hands dirty with clay became a grounding practice—and a long journey toward rediscovering and embracing my artistic self.”
—Daniella Bertolotti (MBA 2024/C)
Field Work
“I just returned from Ghana where I directed a virtual reality shoot on behalf of Safe Water Network (SWN), a nonprofit cofounded by Paul Newman and John C. Whitehead (MBA 1947). More than two billion people still do not have access to safe water despite lots of money thrown at the problem. The short VR film will showcase how SWN is using an approach that empowers underserved communities to own and operate safe water enterprises. It was a fascinating project, and I got to work with an amazing crew from Kenya.”
—Bob Williams (MBA 1988/C)
