Mala Gaonkar (MBA 1996) kicked off the new year with the debut of her hedge fund SurgoCap Partners, whose $1.8 billion under management made it the "largest debut of a woman-led hedge fund in the industry's history," according to Bloomberg.
"SurgoCap will use data science to invest around the theme of how technology can enhance other sectors such as financials, industrials, health care and enterprise data, according to people familiar with the matter," the article notes.
Gaonkar is also involved in the immersive experiences industry, collaborating with former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne to create Theater of the Mind, "a new theatrical experience you'll see, feel, taste and hear."
