On March 23, recently appointed Amazon CEO Andy Jassy (MBA 1997) named Adam Selipsky (MBA 1993) head of Amazon Web Services (AWS), a $50 billion business that contributes more than half of Amazon’s total income. For the past five years, Selipsky has served as CEO of cloud data company Tableau; before that, he spent 11 years working alongside Jassey, running sales, marketing, and support at AWS.
As reported by CNN, Jassey cited that experience, as well as Sepilsky’s many skills—including “customer obsession”—in a letter to AWS employees. “It’s easy to forget that AWS is still in the very early stages of what’s possible,” he added. “We have a lot more to invent for customers, and we have a very strong leadership team and group of builders to go make it happen. Am excited for what lies ahead.”
