Boston Mayor Martin Walsh, who has been nominated by President Biden to serve as secretary of labor, has tapped Dan Koh (MBA 2011) to serve as his chief of staff, according to the Boston Globe.

Assuming Walsh is approved by the full Senate, it would be Koh’s second turn as Walsh’s chief of staff. Koh is credited with introducing a “tech-savvy jolt of energy” to the mayor’s office when he joined in 2014, after a serving as chief of staff to Arianna Huffington at the Huffington Post. Koh also comes from a family with deep roots in government.

“His grandfather was South Korea’s ambassador to the United States. His father, Howard Koh, was assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services during the Obama administration. And his uncle advised Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state,” according to the Globe.

Walsh’s vote by the Senate has not been scheduled yet, but his nomination was recently advanced by a bipartisan committee vote and is expected to pass.

Editor's note: In more news from Boston City Hall, soon-to-be-acting mayor Kim Janey has named chief of streets Chris Osgood (MBA 2006) as her chief of staff.
