Helping California Wildfire Victims Rebuild
A recent article in Forbes highlights the work of the home-building management startup Homebound, cofounded by CEO Nikki Pechet (MBA 2007).
Both cofounders—Pechet and investor Jack Abraham—had homes impacted by California wildfires, the article notes, and also saw how other homeowners struggled to rebuild. “As we watched people try to navigate the process and the complexity of everything they had to do to build a home, we knew there were really simple technology tools that were used in other industries that could make the process simpler,” Pechet told Forbes. The company is now managing the rebuild process for 150 victims of the California wildfires.
The Homebound software, the article notes, “tracks 379 unique tasks that are common when building a home, allowing customers to track the progress as they would a Seamless food delivery or a ride with Uber.” The company has raised $53 million in funding, and has long-term plans to expand beyond California.
