A Home for Startups
Ankit Samdariya (MBA 2013) is CEO of The Hive, a collaborative workspace firm in Chennai, India. In this video, he discusses how the company is serving the rapidly growing trend toward collaborative work among Indian startups and small businesses.
“The Hive is a chain of collaborative workspaces targeting entrepreneurs, freelancers, SMEs, and enterprises. We provide a fully integrated work ecosystem, comprising of flexible work spaces, amenities, business support services, and a supportive community that any growing company needs to make them more successful.
“As CEO, my focus is really on providing and supporting the collaborative work environments so that all the member companies can thrive and realize their visions and missions. The idea is that, when people with different backgrounds and different ideas come together, the magic happens. We are providing a supportive environment, which acts as a platform to bring these people together and let them interact with each other to generate new ideas, new business opportunities.
“Collaboration is the currency of the future, and we are stepping forward in that direction. We have a very good mix of large companies, medium-sized companies, and early-stage companies, with a lot of startups, a lot of freelancers, and creative professionals who all come together. It's a very energetic space. When you walk into the space, you feel the vibe.
“This is not just meant for young people. We are attracting people of all demographics and all age groups, because they all want to come and collaborate. Younger people can learn from the experiences of the older people and vice versa.
“I think one thing that I took away from my business school experience was customer-centricity––to rally create a product that solves the pain point customers are experiencing and provide them an environment that is delightful, is very inspiring, having the attention to detail to make sure that you are addressing those pain points, and making sure that our customers thrive in the work environment that we are creating.”
