Enabling Big Thinking
Cameron Ogden (MBA 2006) and Peter Ogden (MBA 1973)
Outside of the familial bond of being father and son,
Peter (MBA 1973) and Cameron (MBA 2006) Ogden have much in common: both
attended HBS, share a passion for education, and
support the work of HBS faculty with their gift establishing
the Ogden Family Research Fund. They have
also encouraged other members of their extended
family to contribute to the fund.
“We want to give faculty members the freedom to
think big. We have an interest in the issues around
management—human behavior in large organizations,
how companies grow talent, and the ethical behavior of
management, for example,” explains Cameron, who is
part owner of Blackbushe Airport in Surrey, England.
“We have always supported HBS and believe we should
give something back. The fund gives us the opportunity
to say ‘thank you,’” says Peter—who marked his 45th
Reunion in 2018—in appreciation for the skills and
friendships he and his son acquired at the School.
While pursuing his MBA, Peter met fellow UK native
and sectionmate Philip Hulme, and after graduation,
the pair cofounded Computacenter, one of Europe’s
largest independent providers of IT infrastructure
services, and later launched Dealogic, a financial
services software firm. Their success in business
enabled Peter to set up the Ogden Trust in 1998, a
nonprofit that initially provided funding for talented
students to pursue higher education and that has since
shifted its focus to advancing the study of physics.
“Because of the mission of the trust, it suited us to
support research at HBS,” says Cameron, who recently
took over for his father as chair of the trust and is also
board chair of the educational philanthropy SHINE.
Guiding the Ogdens’ legacy of giving at HBS and
beyond, Peter explains, is the idea that “maybe we
can’t change the world but we can impact individuals.
That is still at the heart of what we are trying to do.”
