HBS Named Top School for Producing EntrepreneursTopics:
Sarah Leary (MBA 1998)
Poets & Quants recently reported on PitchBook’s annual ranking of MBA programs that have “produced the most entrepreneurs, the most companies, the most female founders, and more—including, of course, the most VC backing.”
HBS came in first overall—a repeat victory—with PitchBook counting 1,310 entrepreneurs, 1,186 companies founded, and $39.28 billion in capital raised. The School was also ranked first for its alumnae founders, with 220 entrepreneurs and companies, with $8.46 billion raised. Among those noted by PitchBook in this group: Nextdoor cofounder Sarah Leary (MBA 1998).
What’s the secret to alumni success? Your fellow alumni, says PitchBook’s Garrett Black:
“Accurate information is hard to come by in private markets in general, and even more so, arguably, in the realm of startups and their backers. Amid that scarcity, relationships are even more critical. Tapping networks remains perhaps the most trusted recourse to finding not only the right people with whom to launch a new venture, but also the right providers of needed capital.”
