The feature on work/life integration was the September issue’s most popular article online
I was single-handedly raising my 2 1/2-year-old daughter while completing my MBA at HBS. I had no nanny, no partner, nothing; only the wonderful team at Soldiers Field Park Children Center where I would drop off my daughter and then proceed to my classes. What did I do during evening events/classes when the nursery was closed? Well, I just took my daughter along. People often ask me how I managed with the morning study groups: I simply did not attend them. I studied on my own. How about case prep with a toddler? I studied all my cases on the weekend. It was a journey where I had to carve my own path. I tell younger women that the journey is hard but not impossible. Sharing our stories gives us a better sense of how we can support one another and grow stronger as a society.
