LuminOva Makes Great Strides Tackling Infertility
LuminOva, a biotech startup in Boston that won the 2015 Bertarelli Prize, is making progress on its quest to develop a new technology that could increase in vitro fertilization success rates by monitoring the viability of embryos.
In a new video, Blavatnik Fellow and cofounder Alexandra Dickson (MBA 2013) and CEO Theresa Tribble (MBA 2009) detail the progress the company has made since launching at the Harvard i-lab and winning the 2015 Deans’ Health and Life Sciences Challenge, which encourages nascent businesses to develop and grow towards commercialization.
While many businesses enter the Challenge each year and benefit from the mentoring, workshops, and judging process, the winner of the Bertarelli Foundation Grand Prize receives a $40,000 award that moves the firm forward and helps it overcome barriers to success. LuminOva is currently undergoing clinical trials, which Tribble and Dickson hope will help move their product to market quickly.
