While those attending the Cape Town conference will focus on exploring the economic potential of the region, they will also have the chance to take advantage of Africa's unparalleled natural beauty and opportunities for adventure.
Conference organizers have put together an extensive program that will enable alumni to enjoy the diverse wonders of Africa through a variety of pre- and postconference tours. Bush safaris feature luxury accommodations, excellent food, and ranger-guided wildlife viewing from open-air vehicles. Participants can choose among eleven different tour options, including visiting Mala Mala, where one is likely to see the "big five" - elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard.
Other tours within South Africa include golf excursions, a luxury ride aboard the elegant Blue Train, and a desert safari in the Tswalu Private Desert Reserve. Special interest tours will give participants a chance to bird watch, wing shoot, explore ancient rock paintings, or just relax in the country's premier resort, Sun City. Those interested in venturing out to see more of Africa can sign up for excursions to (among others) the Okavango Delta in Botswana, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, or the rain forest in Uganda.
Several shorter trips in and around Cape Town - including tours of Robben Island, Kirstenbosch National Botanic Gardens, and Table Mountain - are available, as are overnights that offer winetasting, deep-sea fishing, and fly-fishing. Additional information on touring opportunities will be mailed to alumni before the conference, but interested travelers can learn more by visiting the conference Web site: www.hbscsa.co.za/99conf.
