HBS alumni Jonathan Solomon and Hampus Hillerstrom (both MBA 2007) play an important role in Jon Palfreman’s recent book Brain Storms: The Race to Unlock the Mysteries of Parkinson’s Disease. As the cofounders of NeuroPhage Pharmaceuticals, the pair is working to understand the therapeutic properties of a virus known as M13—properties first recognized by Solomon’s mother, a leading Alzheimer’s researcher—and produce a medication to treat diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimers’s.
As Solomon tells Palreman: “A single compound that effectively treats Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s could be a twenty billion-dollar-a-year blockbuster drug.”
