MBA Oath Maintains Momentum
Conceived and implemented in the closing weeks of the 2009 academic year, the HBS student-inspired MBA Oath has continued to grow and gain support both at the School and beyond. Spearheaded by Max Anderson (MBA ’09) above, at right and a group of his classmates, the eight-part oath pledging to serve “the greater good” with the “utmost integrity” was taken by hundreds of graduating MBA students in a ceremony on Class Day. As of late July, more than 450 newly minted HBS MBAs and nearly 1,000 graduates of other b-schools had taken the oath, many by means of the Internet (www.mbaoath.org).
Oath-takers vow to “safeguard the interests of my shareholders, coworkers, customers, and society” and to shun “my own narrow interests,” while striving to create “sustainable economic, social, and environmental prosperity worldwide.”
HBS Student Association copresidents Patrick Chun and Scott Daubin (both HBS ’10) will continue the effort with both their classmates and the incoming Class of 2011.
