April was a good month for startups at HBS, with three events connecting expert entrepreneurs with student and alumni founders. The HBS Rock 100 Entrepreneurs' Summit featured conversations with industry leaders like Care.com founder and CEO Sheila Marcelo (MBA 1998/JD 1999) and Angie's List founder Angie Hicks (MBA 2000); discussions of a few of HBS's top entrepreneurship cases; and—naturally—plenty of networking opportunities. Summit attendees were also invited to check out the finale of another startup event on campus that day: the student New Venture Competition (NVC), where live voting narrowed down finalists in the business and social enterprise tracks to grand prize winners and runners-up, each receiving $50,000 and $25,000, respectively. Alumni NVC winners were announced two weeks earlier, with victors in three tracks—determined by online crowd voting and a global panel of HBS Alumni Angels—each receiving $25,000.
