Christensen Awarded Kim Clark Fellowship

HBS professor Clayton Christensen, a former Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, has been named the first recipient of the newly established Kim B. Clark Fellowship in Responsible Leadership at Oxford's Saïd Business School. In explaining why he named the initiative after Clark, Saïd Dean Peter Tufano (MBA 1984, PhDBE 1989), a former professor and senior associate dean at HBS, said, "Kim exemplifies integrity, honesty, compassion, and conviction. As HBS Dean from 1995 to 2005, he was an inspirational leader and had a profound influence on the School."

At a September event at Oxford, a panel including Christensen, Clark, and other academics celebrated the new fellowship. Christensen stated that teaching students how to think, not what to think, and introducing them to well-researched, reliable theories applicable to a range of situations would be better preparation for leadership than trying "to teach certain values that always ought to be applied."
