Geisha Secrets
Years of work-related testing of beauty products had left Victoria Tsai (MBA 2006) with acute dermatitis. After trying various medications to no avail, she turned to Japan for a natural cure involving camellia flower, red algae, rice bran, and green tea. Tsai has incorporated these and other elements into Tatcha, a line of beauty products and treatments based on the centuries-old skin-care rituals of Japanese geishas that Tsai discovered in an obscure manuscript. Tatcha debuted in Hong Kong last spring, following on US success in stores such as Henri Bendel and Barneys. "I hope I can create something that lives beyond me," Tsai told the South China Morning Post (April 23, 2013). "I hope I can do something that my daughter will be proud of one day."
