Old friendships were renewed and new ones made during the fall reunion weekend September 30October 3, when more than 1,400 graduates and guests from the MBA Classes of 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, and 1979 returned to Soldiers Field for an activity-packed weekend. And for the first time, they were joined by members of the newly created 1908 Society, which includes all members of classes commemorating their 60th Reunion and beyond.
Reunion participants had an opportunity to choose from 28 faculty presentations on topics ranging from lessons of the Columbia space shuttle disaster and Enrons downfall, to the revolution in retailing and elements of effective negotiation. In between sessions, old friends gathered on the Spangler Center lawn for coffee, pastries, and lively conversation.
In his Friday morning welcoming remarks, Dean Kim B. Clark presented an overview of three areas that reflect the Schools spirit of innovation: the Global Initiative with its pathbreaking international research centers; the restoration and new construction under way at Baker Library; and the required MBA course Leadership and Corporate Accountability, now in its second year. In closing, Clark thanked graduates for the lives they lead: You are the only book that many people will read about HBS. And in the quality of your lives, it is a great, great book.
