Celebrating HBS
Topics: Education-Business EducationPhilanthropy-Capital CampaignLeadership-Leadership DevelopmentMore than five hundred alumni, guests, and friends of the School welcomed Dean Kim B. Clark and HBS faculty at campaign celebrations in Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta in the fall. With the help of local HBS clubs and sponsoring host committees in each city, the events reflected on the leadership of HBS and the role of the campaign in helping further the work of the School.
A highlight of the evening was a multimedia presentation, narrated by Professor Nancy F. Koehn, that looks at the leadership impact of the School through the lens of people and communities affected by the work of HBS alumni.
Noting that HBS is educating students now for a vastly more globalized and challenging world economy, Dean Clark traced the Schools mission to its beginnings, when creating an educational community dedicated to skilled and thoughtful business leadership was an undertaking that required vision and considerable risk. Clark noted that the School is in a period of equally significant change, which calls for courage and investment to create the Harvard Business School of the future.
As of this writing, The Campaign for Harvard Business School has raised more than $370 million toward a goal of $500 million by December 2005 to support student financial aid, global research, faculty development, learning technologies, and campus renewal. Each of these initiatives requires resources beyond what the Schools current endowment provides.
