Last May, executive directors from the School's global research centers came to campus for a daylong retreat hosted by the HBS Global Initiative. The event marked the first time that executive directors Gustavo Herrero (MBA '76), Latin America Research Center; Masako Egawa (MBA '86), Japan Research Office; Camille Tang Yeh (MBA '80), Asia-Pacific Research Center; and Vincent Dessain (MBA '87), European Research Center, were on campus together to discuss their work.
In sessions with faculty members and administrators, the directors talked about the School's global strategy and the roles of their centers. Each year, more than half of the HBS faculty is involved in conducting research overseas, and at any given time, HBS researchers are working in more than forty different countries. Their efforts produce international cases for both the MBA and Executive Education Programs. HBS alumni also play a key role for the centers by helping to identify and facilitate research opportunities worldwide.
In related news, Masako Egawa has announced that as of September, the Japan Research Office has a new home, having relocated to the Marunouchi Building in Tokyo. Our new location is in the center of the business district and is extremely convenient for all visitors, she said.
