Global Outreach Program Planned for HBS Centennial

Over fifty HBS clubs have scheduled special Centennial events beginning this fall through the end of 2008 as part of the School’s Global Outreach Program. The program has two aspects: The first involves HBS faculty, who will travel around the world to present their research and celebrate the Centennial with alumni. “These events offer a wonderful opportunity for our alumni to interact with faculty and hear about the latest work and ideas coming out of the School,” says Stephanie Goff, senior director for Alumni Relations.

As part of the program’s second component, alumni club members will come together to plan an event or activity that will recognize and continue their ongoing commitment to social enterprise — a history that includes efforts as diverse as volunteer consulting, fundraising, community events and programs, and scholarships that have funded MBA fellowships and sent dozens of nonprofit managers to HBS Executive Education programs. “Social enterprise is one of the common threads that connect HBS alumni clubs, regardless of size or geographic location,” notes Goff.

“The Global Outreach Program provides a unique opportunity for alumni to connect with the School during the Centennial,” says Dean Jay Light. “We are, in effect, taking HBS on the road — and around the globe — in a way we’ve never done before.”
