Kaplan Named Senior Associate Dean

Kaplan, a professor of management practice, has been named Senior Associate Dean for External Relations, joining Professor William A. Sahlman in that role. Kaplan also serves as faculty chair of campaign planning for the upcoming HBS Capital Campaign and cochairman of Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation, a global venture philanthropy firm.
He is the author of several case studies, articles, and the book What to Ask the Person in the Mirror: Critical Questions for Becoming a More Effective Leader and Reaching Your Potential (Harvard Business Review Press, 2011). Prior to joining HBS in 2005, Kaplan was vice chairman of the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. with oversight responsibility for the investment banking and investment management divisions. He received an MBA from Harvard in 1983 and is a cochair for his class's 30th reunion campaign.
