A Smooth Stretch
A dedicated runner until motherhood stood everything on its head, Jamie Hanna (MBA ’98) told Chicago’s examiner.com (September 20, 2010) that by the time she had her second child, “Running didn’t feel good to me anymore.” In its place, she explained, “Yoga became a great way to work my body and quiet my mind at a time when my life as a full-time mother of two small children was feeling quite chaotic.”
And yoga also offered a great business opportunity, Hanna realized, for fashionable fitness apparel, made with quality fabrics and design and suitable not only for yoga but for everyday wear as well. Launched a little over two years ago, her clothing line, Zobha (which means beauty, brilliance, and grace in Sanskrit), can be found in more than 350 stores in twenty countries, as well as online at zobha.com.
In addition, Hanna, who is a certified yoga instructor, has created a foundation to help spread yoga teaching and practice throughout society, including among at-risk youth. Said Hanna, “I wanted to build a brand that inspires people to be the best versions of themselves.”
