Reunion Dates Thursday, May 31 – Sunday, June 3, 2018

During the 2018 Spring Reunion weekend, alumni children and grandchildren are invited to participate in daytime and evening programs that are designed especially for them. There will be off-campus chaperoned museum visits, an activity tent with games and crafts, a petting zoo, and, for older children and teens, a chance to take part in an HBS Case discussion.

WHAT'S HAPPENING DURING THE DAY?

Activity Tent

During the day on Friday and Saturday, there is a free activity tent on Baker Lawn. There are crafts, games, and plenty of activities for children up to 16.

Age Level: Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult in the activity tent

Cost: No charge

Registration: No registration required

Teen Case
Saturday, June 2 10:00 a.m.—11:15 a.m.

On Saturday morning, young adults and teens are invited to take part in a Case discussion led by an HBS Professor. Parents are invited to watch a simulcast of the discussion in a classroom across the hall.

Coca-Cola's Price-Adjusting Vending Machine
Ayelet Israeli, Assistant Professor of Business Administration

Chairman and CEO M. Douglas Ivester of The Coca-Cola Company stumbles when he tells a Brazilian newsmagazine about a new Coke vending machine that can automatically raise prices in hot weather. Reaction around the world is swift and negative. In this session, we will explore the benefits and challenges of price discrimination—the practice of selling the same good at different prices, sometimes to different buyers or at different times.

Age Level: For children 12 and older; no exceptions will be made.

Cost: No charge

Registration: Space is limited; Registration is required

Kids' Class
Saturday, June 2 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. or 10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

On Saturday morning, children of alumni ages 7 to 11 and their parents are invited to take part in an interactive session led by HBS Faculty. We are offering the same class at two timeslots.

Capture the Candy! A Negotiation Game
John Beshears, Terrie F. and Bradley M. Bloom Associate Professor of Business Administration

This game, adapted from a popular in-class exercise used in MBA and Executive Education negotiation courses, has simple rules and an even simpler objective: capturing as much candy from other players and from the instructor as possible! Along the way, the game teaches important insights about negotiation, cooperation, competition, and even simple game theory. Parents should be warned that their children will walk away with improved bargaining skills that may be deployed in household negotiations.
Preparation: Please think of a situation (in school, at home, with a sports team, or anywhere else) where you thought it would be best for other people to cooperate with you. What did you say or do to persuade them to go along with your suggestions? We will discuss some of your stories in class.

Age Level: For children 7-11 years of age; no exceptions will be made. An adult is required to attend.

Cost: No charge

Registration: Space is limited; Registration is required
