Adding Resilience to Your Career Toolkit
Joshua Margolis, James Dinan & Elizabeth Miller Professor of Business Administration
How can we handle adversity in our lives, whether it is the day-to-day stressors we face or major turbulence that hits us periodically? According to Professor Joshua Margolis in the Organizational Behavior Unit, it is possible to build resilience --despite varying levels of setbacks-- by taking charge of how one both thinks about and reacts to adversity:
- How to pivot from an analysis of a crisis situation to a plan of action,
- To understand your own habits of thought and help reframe negative events in productive ways, and
- How to implement a set of tools for building resilience. We teach these tools in our executive education programs on leadership and they can be put to use immediately.
