5 Technologies That Will Change the World. How Will They Affect Your Journey as a Leader?
Shikhar Ghosh (MBA 1980), MBA Class of 1961 Professor of Management Practice
E.O. Wilson observed that the "real problem of humanity is that we have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and godlike technology." We will examine 5 recently developed "godlike technologies" that have passed commercial viability and are on track to change the foundations of business and society by 2032 - AI, blockchain, ubiquitous networks, synthetic biology, and brain-computer interfaces - and examine their impact on who we are as individuals and as a species. What does it take to live a purposeful life in an age where everything can change and where existential threats are real?

Considering Retirement?
Lauren Murphy, Executive & Career Coach, Pivotal Executive Coaching, Rich Schneider (MBA 1974), Partner, Sage Partners
Retirement can inspire not only excitement for new possibilities, but also fear for the future. How can you keep the parts of work you love but enjoy more balance in your life? What work will you do? How will this change affect your relationship with your spouse? What about the decline in economic, social, and physical potential? Now, there is a new factor in the equation the Covid-19 pandemic. What impact has the pandemic had on all of these questions and more? The workshop will be held on Zoom. In the past, we have held this program in-person. In order to create a similar environment, we will be asking all participants to have their camera on and participate in small-group work with other alumni. In order to replicate the in-person experience, we will be asking all participants to have their camera on and participate in small-group work with other alumni. We ask that you attend the session in its entirety ready to connect with your fellow HBS alumni. It is also best that you login from a computer rather than a phone.

A Blessing and Little Black Library at Harvard Business School presents a virtual author chat to celebrate Black History Month
HBSs iconic Baker Library is the largest business library in the worldand its collection expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time in its 95-year history, Baker brought in non-business books, over 170 titles (to date) organized by Cathy Chukwulebe (MBA 2021) as part of her new non-profit, Little Black Library (LBL). In response to the racial and social unrest of 2020, Cathy launched Little Black Library to promote Black authors and conversations about the Black experience through books and events at libraries and other partners around the US. When Mallory Stark, research librarian at Baker Library, learned about the LBL, she and her team immediately saw it as a way to build upon previous, more traditional library diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. On the list is A Blessing: Women of Color Teaming Up to Lead, Empower, and Thrive, by HBS alumnae Bonita C. Stewart (MBA 1983) and Jacqueline Adams (MBA 1978). To mark this HBS and Black History Month collaboration, Senior Lecturer Henry McGee will lead a fireside chat with Stewart and Adams about their multi-year research on women of color in business as well as generational diversity and the need for increased manager training.

49th H. Naylor Fitzhugh Conference - RISE UP: BOLSTERING MOMENTUM AROUND BLACK EXCELLENCE
How do we keep the momentum? 2020 proved to be challenging for the Black community in myriad ways, from COVIDs disproportionate impact on Black and Brown communities to the racial reckoning brought on by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless others. Despite 2020's challenges, as Nikole Hannah-Jones put it, something felt different. In 2021, we celebrated the stories of Black women leaders, often unseen in the background of these movements. This year we aim to celebrate and bolster our community as we rise in a world more aware than ever of the inequities our leaders have faced. We spotlight those leaders who saw the greatest challenges of the last 18 months and those leaders who are capturing the momentum of resources and allyship -- with the goal of helping our community answer the question exciting us all: 'How do we keep the momentum?' Tickets provide access to the Conference, Black Tech Master Series, and Black New Venture Competition. Day 1 (Friday 2/18): Black New Venture Competition (uplifting black founders changing the venture landscape) + Black Tech Master Series. Day 2 (Saturday 2/19): Conference Panels. Given the current situation with COVID, we are planning for a fully virtual conference. For more information, please visit our conference website: http://www.aasuconference.com/
