Annual giving to the HBS Fund for Leadership and Innovation ensures that the School has the unrestricted resources needed to advance its mission of educating leaders who make a difference in the world. In addition to supporting core priorities, the HBS Fund enables the School to act quickly and thoughtfully to harness new ideas—similar to venture capital funding.

27%
Gifts from alumni and friends to the HBS Fund, combined with restricted current-use gifts and the payout from the endowment (revenue from past gifts), represent more than a quarter of the School’s annual operating revenue.

Areas of Impact

Donors to the HBS Fund can choose to support a specific area that is important to them, or have the School direct their gift to wherever it is most needed.

Student Financial Aid

Need-based fellowships enable the School to attract the most talented students regardless of their financial circumstances. Fellowships also reduce the pressure of loan debt and enable graduates to explore and pursue a broader range of career opportunities.

Educational Innovation

While the case method remains at the core of the curriculum, innovation ensures that HBS continues to provide management education that shapes future leaders. Recent enhancements include more hands-on learning plus online content offered through HBX.

Global Understanding

HBS is committed to providing an educational experience that is unmatched in its global breadth of analysis and understanding. Toward that end, the School develops international cases and courses and creates opportunities for students and faculty to gain firsthand experience in markets around the world.

Pathbreaking Research

Faculty research serves as the foundation of all HBS educational programs and is disseminated to the business and academic communities throughout the world. Donor support enables the HBS faculty to pursue ideas with power in practice without the constraints of seeking external grants.

University Collaborations

HBS works with faculty members and students across Harvard University to build bridges between business and the fields of medicine, science, engineering, education, law, and public policy. The School also serves as a Harvard-wide catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship.
