The Sweet Spot

Dining on campus wouldn’t be the same without the daily confections created by the bakery staff based in the Kresge Hall kitchen. Here, Viennese executive pastry chef Andreas Horava and pastry cook Mary Beth Miskin put the finishing touches on sweets for the lunch crowd. The bakery operates round the clock five days a week. An overnight shift produces hundreds of breakfast pastries and muffins. Later, production shifts to desserts — up to 700 petit pastries, pies, cakes, and dessert bars plus 600–1,000 cookies daily. How sweet it is!
