Is There a Disconnect?

Thanks for some interesting commentary in the December issue. I note in particular the preamble to the review of John Kao’s (MBA ’82) new book, Charlie Williams’s observations in “The Wise Men” feature, and Professor Rakesh Khurana’s insights in “How Business Schools Lost Their Way.”

There appears to be a disconnect between the above material and where the Class of 2007 has chosen to work. Once again, two-thirds of the MBA graduates are working in consulting and in the financial services arena. I sense little, if any, movement by HBS management to address this disconnect. Am I missing something?
