New Program for Science-Based Businesses
HBS has launched a new Executive Education program designed to help leaders of science-based businesses meet the many distinctive challenges found in their industry. Leading Science-Based Enterprises, to be held on campus June 26–29, will focus on strategies for successfully moving research and scientific discoveries from the lab to the market. The program is designed for executives with strong science backgrounds as well as nontechnical managers with key business responsibilities.
HBS faculty will lead sessions on topics such as how to create model enterprises that combine scientific innovation with market opportunities, and how financial markets value scientific knowledge. Participants will also discuss issues associated with finding, retaining, and motivating scientific talent and collaboratively managing technical and nontechnical employees.
“Science-based enterprises are a key driver of the global economy and are central to a range of industries, such as health care, that depend heavily on advances in basic research,” said HBS professor Kent Bowen, faculty chair of the program. “This program builds on the strengths of HBS and the broader Harvard community to address the unique challenges these businesses face.”
