Professors Thompson, Healy Remembered

Professors Lawrence E. Thompson and James J. Healy, who both retired from the faculty in 1981 after long and distinguished tenures at HBS, died in March and June, respectively. Thompson, a tax expert who began his HBS career in 1951, taught courses in finance, control, managerial economics, and social responsibility. Healy was an authority on labor relations and arbitration who joined the faculty in 1946. He remained active in high-level dispute resolution while teaching at HBS and was the coauthor of Collective Bargaining, a seminal work in that field.
