Choosing between faculty presentations ranging from entrepreneurship to Enron, from health care to international real-estate finance, close to 2,800 alumni and guests attended spring reunions June 36. Graduates from the MBA Classes of 1949, 1954, 1984, 1989, 1994, and 1999 took advantage of a weekend of social and academic activities, renewing old friendships and forging new ones.
In welcoming the attendees, Dean Kim B. Clark stressed the importance of the Schools mission. Today, more than ever, the world needs great leaders. To prepare for the challenges ahead, we must set ambitious goals. Calling attention to the Schools spirit of innovation, Clark highlighted its increasing global activities, the renovation of Baker Library, and the new required MBA course in Leadership and Corporate Accountability.
After showing a video featuring alumni remembrances of being cold called, Dean Clark concluded, These shared experiences define the spirit of Harvard Business School. Life is full of cold calls. Being a leader is all about being ready for the cold calls that come your way.
