Business Plan Contest

Now in its seventh year, the HBS Business Plan Contest is designed to promote entrepreneurship among students. This year, 32 teams submitted plans to the contest, 24 to the traditional track and 8 to the social enterprise track.

FBC Systems, the winning team for the traditional business track, provides software that enables engineers and managers in product development to estimate design costs accurately at an early stage of the design process. Gyaana Ventures, which took the top prize in the social enterprise track, seeks to eliminate functional illiteracy in India by enabling poor children to stay in school for several years beyond the fifth grade ‹ a time when many drop out to help support their families.

Contest winners received $10,000 in cash and $10,000 in in-kind professional services to help turn their business plans into realities.
