Roger Thompson, a longtime editor at Nations Business magazine and, more recently, a Web site developer and manager for Cox Interactive Media, is the new editor of the HBS Bulletin. In July, he assumed the position formerly held by Deborah E. Blagg, who stepped down last year after 23 years at the Bulletin, including 19 as editor.
From 1986 to 1998, Thompson was an editor at Nations Business, the monthly small-business magazine of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He specialized in employee benefits and personal finance and rose to the rank of deputy editor. Prior to Nations Business, Thompson worked as a writer and editor with the Miami Herald and Congressional Quarterly.
At Cox Interactive Media from 1999 through 2002, he launched and managed a Northern Virginia city-guide Web site aimed at one million Internet users, hiring and supervising a staff of six and overseeing the operations budget.
Im really honored to be named editor of the Bulletin, said Thompson. The magazine is a vital link between the School and its far-flung alumni community. Well strive to strengthen that link, looking for ways to make the magazine more engaging and more useful for our 65,000 readers. I look forward to hearing from alumni about how we can make the Bulletin even better. Well also explore ways to enhance the Alumni Web site to deliver important information and help alumni to stay in touch with each other, he added.
Thompson is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a masters degree in education from Harvard University. He lives with his wife and son in Marblehead, Massachusetts. He may be reached at rthompson@hbs.edu.
