Good Day Sunshine

Thanks to second-year students Brian Robertson (at left) and Dan Cook, the roof of Shad Hall now boasts 192 solar panels, the second largest such installation in Boston. HBS, Harvard University, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts helped the pair finance and implement the $365,000 project. Robertson and Cook, copresidents of the HBS Sustainable Development Society, say the panels will provide 15 to 25 percent of Shad’s daily electricity needs and eliminate carbon dioxide emissions equal to what 220 cars would produce in a year.
