Project outreach

On March 28, more than five hundred HBS students, partners, and faculty members participated in the School's eleventh annual daylong public service effort, Project Outreach. This year, groups of volunteers went to eight sites around the Greater Boston area, including Boston Senior Home Care in Dorchester, Long Island Shelter in Boston, and Gardner Elementary School in Allston. Participants painted, cleaned, and landscaped buildings and grounds. "This is a great way for HBS to get involved in the community," said Kim Decker, an HBS partner who was one of the organizers of the event. "The feedback has been very positive. The volunteers had a great time, and the agencies were pleased with our work," observed Decker, adding that she hopes local alumni will participate in the future.

25 Years in Show Business

The cast of the Show.

In April some one hundred HBS students, under the direction of Alan Priest (MBA '98), put on "HBTV," a spoof about HBS starting its own cable TV station. The event marked the 25th anniversary of the HBS Show, an annual musical-comedy extravaganza that has been written, performed, directed, and produced by students since its inception in 1974. A record-breaking 1,850 tickets were sold this year for the show, which was produced by Reid French (HBS '99) and held before packed houses in Burden Auditorium.
